Street Sign Collection
Pictured above, Jim King, who’s family lived in Tintern Street, Ordsall for over thirty years. He saved the sign as the street was about to be demolished in December 1977. Jim described the Ordsall community as
“One big family,” as extensive networks of families lived close together, as they did in Broughton. Pictured above, with blue T-Shirt, James Herring, who lived in Harrison Street, Lower Broughton.
The street signs were donated by residents of Salford streets that have now been demolished. We preserve them so that future generations can remember the places where working class communities lived.
