The District Six Museum, Cape Town, South Africa (pictured), was set up to represent the communities vibrant culture. It contains images of prominent professional black men and women from the district (above), who played a vital role in politics, arts and culture.  The museum uses related objects to explore people’s histories in the District Six area, which was eradicated under the Group Areas Act of the 1950s.
